2021 Theme: Resetting Priorities of Progress with Resilience

The 2021 Yushan Forum: Asian Dialogue for Innovation and Progress is organized by the Taiwan-Asia Exchange Foundation (TAEF). The Yushan Forum serves as a platform for Asian regional dialogue and features the achievements of governmental and non-governmental cooperation between Taiwan and its neighboring partner countries. Based on the unique experiences and common visions of Taiwan for regional prosperity, and as illustrated by its 2021 theme, the Forum aims to foster social connectivity for Asia’s next generation based on innovation and progress, alongside promoting multifaceted regional linkages and strengthening partnerships.

Entering into its fifth year, the 2021 Yushan Forum will explore the prospect of "Resetting Priorities of Progress with Resilience." As the resilience of the international community is constantly put to a test by greater challenges, the Yushan Forum will bring together the best and the brightest minds and dedicate themselves to the search for a people-centered development model to end disparity and achieve inclusive growth. This year's Yushan Forum will feature remarks and speeches by global leaders and government representatives, a session on the achievements of New Southbound flagship programs, a session on civil society capacity, and a roundtable dialogue on pressing issues. In addition to the Forum itself, Taiwan-Asia Exchange Foundation will also demonstrate the public-private partnerships in Taiwan's New Southbound Policy through a series of co-organized events.

Located in Taiwan, Yushan—also known as "Mount Jade" or "Tongku Saveq" in the language of the local indigenous Bunun people—is the highest summit in East Asia. It’s also a symbol of Taiwanese aspirations for excellence and warm friendship towards people from neighboring nations.

Organizer

Founded in 2018, the Taiwan-Asia Exchange Foundation (TAEF) is the first policy-oriented think tank in Taiwan with a focus on Southeast Asian and South Asian affairs. In the spirit of the New Southbound Policy (NSP), the goal of the TAEF is to promote comprehensive ties between Taiwan and the 10 ASEAN countries, 6 South Asian states, as well as Australia and New Zealand through cooperation and exchanges in three major fields – including think tanks, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and young leaders – to consolidate a sense of regional community in Asia and establish long-term cooperative partnerships.
